Holy Trinity’s Outreach is done by many people working together.
The people on the Social Ministry Committee have been managing many ministries for many years.
For more than 40 years, Holy Trinity has housed a food pantry. The BREAD OF HEAVEN FOOD PANTRY is open every Thursday from 10:a.m. to Noon. Many of the people we serve are on a fixed income, are between jobs, or have medical bills or prescription drug costs above what they can afford. Many have to choose between food and other bills. The Bread of Heaven is here to help them. We providefood to individuals and families and invite recipients to Holy Trinity Church for worship. There is no0 means testing, residency restriction, or requirement to attend worship in order to receive food. We are motivated to this mission out of Christ’s love for us, who taught that in serving the needy we are serving Him. (Matthew 25)
Volunteers for DINNER’S READY provide meals for families of our own congregation who are facing an emergency, dealing with a death, or have someone in their household who is sick.
We sponsor Red Cross Blood Drives in January and June.
Also, we are always doing collections of one kind or another: we collect for the Good Behavior Store at Silver Spring 3 times a year, we collect for Baby Manna and The People’s Emergency Center in Philadelphia. We do Christmas Appeals for Artman Home and Angel Tree (a ministry to prisoners) and Christmas gifts for Silver Springs.
Blessed Sarnelli Community is an organization dedicated to providing for the needs of people who are poor and abandoned with an emphasis on empowering young adults to share in this commitment through prayer, hospitality and service.
We also provide food, clothing, and hope for a better life through The Last Stop, a Christ-centered Rehab for drug addicts in the Kensington area of Philadelphia.
And this doesn’t even begin to list all the outreach projects that our Men’s and Women’s groups are involved in.
Here at Holy Trinity, we don’t just give money (although we do give that) — we are also involved in hands-on outreach ministry. Like Jesus has told us to be (Matthew 25: 31-44).
