Sacred Space guides you through a 5-10 minute prayer session, in six steps (things like 'Coming into the Presence of God' and preparatory exercises) and centers on a short scripture passage chosen for the day (so it's a little different every day). The Irish Jesuits have produced it to help computer users to get into a habit of daily prayer.
The World Mission Prayer League is a Lutheran organzation devoted to prayer and mission outreach. Interested in joinng? Visit WMPL online.
In Philip Yancey’s wonderful book Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?, he emphasizes the importance of showing up. We get busy with our lives, we sometimes feel disconnected or distant from God as we grow consumed by the cares of the world. Yancey explains, Taking a mission trip, getting married, managing a houseful of kids, giving care to an aging parent—every major life change will have an effect on prayer, both its practice and its content. The only fatal mistake is to stop praying and not begin again.
Come join your Holy Trinity family in weekly prayer—even if you cannot attend every week, come often and spend time with God. No one is forced to pray aloud, but all share their concerns and praises.
I used to write on my daily calendar 7:00-7:30 a.m.: Prayer. But many times I passed that up. It was one more thing to pass by that day. Now I write 7:00-7:30 a.m.: God! Somehow that’s a little harder to neglect. I have found that my reluctance to pray increases when I regard it as a necessary discipline and decreases when I see it as a time to keep company with God.
Why not try writing GOD on your calendar on Tuesday evenings at 6:45 and think of Prayer First as God First. You may be amazed at the difference that setting aside this time will make in your life!
Prayer First is Holy Trinity’s weekly prayer group. It is for EVERY member and friend of this church. Some people can commit to weekly prayer while others come as they can.
Tuesday evenings provides us with a evening of prayer the schedule is as follows ...
Pastor Mike begins by inviting people to share prayer requests. Paper and pens are provided for those who wish to keep a prayer list. He then opens the group in prayer, providing key needs and issues one at a time so that each person who desires so can offer specific prayers for particular concerns. After this focus time, people pray about other concerns for family, friends, and the community, as they feel led.
