Education at Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is committed to a Christian education program for all ages that fosters the strengthening of faith in Christ and deepens  knowledge of Christian doctrine and ethics.  Instruction is founded on the solid rock of Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.  The assumption of the program is that the Bible is truly the inspired Word of God that is not to be pre-empted by modern philosophies or trends.  The Confessions, collected in the Book of Concord of 1580, faithfully reflect the Church's public interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. In accordance with their ordination vows, the pastors regard faithful teaching to be at the core of their pastoral leadership.  This commitment of pastors and people is to be reflected in the Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible studies, theological studies, and Confirmation program of the congregation.  We pray that Christ, the Word made flesh, would keep us faithful.  We praise the Holy and Blessed Trinity, One God in Three Persons, who has created, redeemed, and sanctified us.  May our faith in Him be strengthened and our understanding increased.

Fellowship Hall

Topic: Helping Others Change
Leader: Pastor Tavella
Time: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Description: God’s powerful grace equips every believer to help others grow.

In this dynamic twelve-lesson text, author Paul David Tripp provides expert instruction to those who desire to encourage practical change within the setting of a church training session, small group, Sunday school, or personal study. The author walks individuals through each specific step by first setting the biblical foundation of how God changes hearts and lives; and how believers can learn to be instruments of change in God’s redemptive hands. Topics include: targeting the heart; understanding the basic heart struggle; building relationships where God’s work will thrive; meaningfully understanding people; speaking truth in love; and applying change to everyday life.

Individuals will discover that studying these principles will not only deepen their own relationship with Christ; but they will learn how God practically equips every believer for this important work of helping others change. This manual provides extensive lesson content, homework discussion, CPR - Central truth/Personal application/Relationships application, detailed illustrations, group discussion guide, and "Make it Real" life applications. Used in conjunction with the workbook, churches will benefit from this curriculum as it practically shifts some of the caring burden from a select number of people to the congregation at large. By using this guide, individuals will be better equipped to facilitate meaningful and lively discussion among their peers (as well as strengthening their ability to become an instrument of transformational change in the lives of others.)

Our Life in Christ lessons emphasize the Gospel—the Good News about Christ—at each and every grade level! Our Life in Christ is anchored on the Bible, God's Word.

No two Sunday school classrooms are alike. They vary in the number of students, the communities from which they come, the classrooms in which they learn, the things they already know, the skills they possess. Yet all students need the same thing—they need to hear, clearly and consistently, the Good News that God loves them and has redeemed them from sin and death through His Son, Jesus! They need help and guidance in applying God's Word to their lives as Jesus’ disciples.
